Description
Lovely No 4 Hollow Moulding Plane by Moseley Late Mutter. In great condition for it’s age which looks to be confirmed between 1795 – 1805 from the very feint maker’s mark on the toe. Origin of the name suggests John Moseley probably worked for George Mutter who was situate in London between 1766 and 1793. Moseley himself was situate at 16, New Street, London in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields at the time of manufacture. Untouched, I can clean it gently and wax if so desired. Has to be one I’d rather keep to be honest but space is at a premium and the wife tells me I can’t hold onto everything. Iron is serviceable but is very short which is no doubt commensurate with age.
