Description
Samuel Tyzack worked from Railway Arch, 345, Old Street, London from 1892 and the planes are stamped with the Tyzack name at that address. He was subsequently listed as working from there with his son from 1905, later becoming TYZACK, Samuel & Son Ltd in 1926. The planes measure 9 1/2″ long x 4 1/2″ deep and are approximately 5/8″ thick. Usual day to day wear and tear of everyday use as shown in pictures but no obvious damage at all. Both from the same owner stamped LCS on the top.
Irons are good and long and are stamped W Marples and Sons. The pair are well useable for the craftsman or would form a nice addition to any collection. Personally, I’ve been a collector quite some time and not come across many Tyzack wooden planes but am unsure just how rare they may be.
